DANCE CLASS DESCRIPTIONS & DRESS CODE
2021-2022 Dance Year
This class introduces children ages 3 & 4 to ballet, tap & creative movement. The two subjects are taught to keep the student’s interest diverse. Diversity gives students a better chance to finding a dance style they are best suited for. The primary goal is to foster a love of movement. This class is meant to be fun and build self-confidence. The vocabulary covered in this class is all steps which a 3 year old can master. The vocabulary is also set up to prepare students for Kindergarten Dance

Kindergarten Dance (4 ½ - 5 yr olds) $70/mo
Ages 4 ½ -5 covers a basis of movement found in all dance forms. The goals of Kinder Dance are to foster creativity, freedom and expression in movement, and a love for dance. The class includes concepts that are found in an older child’s dance class. The concepts will prepare the students for the following year when they graduate to Pre-Primary Ballet, Tap & Jazz. 1 or 2 creative or free components are also included within each class. By the end of the year the students can dance set work independent of the teacher, memorize simple exercises and sequences, and make a start of musical interpretation.

Elementary Ballet/Tap (6+ yr olds) $70/mo
The class includes concepts found in an older child’s dance class and will prepare the students for when they move on to leveled Ballet and Tap. This class covers a broader range of movement found in both dance forms with some creative or free components included within each class. By the end of the year the students will be able to memorize more complex exercises and sequences and have a deeper foundation of musical interpretation.

Mini Pom (5-6 yr olds) $70/mo
This class introduces pom pom and jazz dance to the younger dancer. It’s geared toward dancer’s ages 5-6 and is faster paced than our preschool and Kindergarten dance. The dancer begins to learn basic jazz dance terminology. This class is great for the high energy dancer.

Jazz Level 1, 2 and 3 & Leaps and Turns (6+) $70/mo
Jazz style of dance is what is seen in many Broadway type shows such as “Cats”. It is a more structured, stage style of dance. This class teaches fundamental jazz steps and combines the elements of hip hop moves and contemporary music. Students learn the necessary elements of jazz which are crucial to success if they wish to move on to another dance style.

TAP Level 1, 2 and 3 (6+) $70/mo
Tap requires a great deal of coordination and can be a challenging style of dance but one that your dancer will keep for a lifetime. Between the ages of 6-8 our tap classes are traditional tap. CLASS ATTIRE: Comfortable fitted dance top, black dance pants/shorts, black tap shoes
Mini Hip Hop, Hip Hop-Level 1, 2 and 3 (6+) $70/mo
Hip Hop dancing has become a big hit in the mainstream today. It is a new culture about showing power and attitude in your individual style of dance. Hi p Hop dance consist of moves that have been made up and passed along. This style of dance is designed to teach coordination, strength, quickness and agility. It's energetic & fun.

POINTE (12 +) $75/mo
In 1832 Marie Taglioni danced in the full length La Sylphide on pointe. Pointe is an extension of ballet. The name “pointe” actually means the tip of the toe. In pointe the dancer actually dances on the tip of her toe. The elegant, fluid movements of pointe dance are absolutely beautiful to watch. This class is for the more advanced ballet dancer and not recommended for the beginner.

This class is designed for the intermediate dancer that works to advance their Jazz skills in a more modern style. Contemporary Lyrical is a combination of ballet and jazz technique that also express personal emotion and passion from within the dancer.

Musical Theatre $75/mo
Musical theatre combines song, dance and acting. What a fun way to build self confidence and valuable team working skills! Learn the music and routines from fun, popular musicals. A great class for any future performer, the musical theatre class is open to students starting at age 6.

Lil' Wranglers® 101 $75/mo
If you want your child to learn to Country & Western dance this is the class but them! We instruct children in the art of Lil'-Wrangler style swing. It is best to take the class with a partner of your choosing, however it is not a requirement.
Class Attire: Kids are asked to wear jeans that are soled boots and a t-shirt to class.
The Lil' Wranglers and Elite Wranglers are patterned after the nationally famous Aggie Wranglers from Texas A&M University. Whoop! They range in age from 5-18 years old, and they perform stylized country & western jitterbug and swing dance moves that entertain and deliver big Texas smiles to the faces of audiences everywhere. They perform all over the state of Texas sharing their love for dance and spreading the good will of Aggieland. They are under the direction of their founder, Sharon Toups, former Aggie Wrangler, class of '89. Whoop!

Classes begin the week of June 1st and continue through July 31
These classes focus on leaps, turns, stretching and toning technique, and fun dance progressions. They are great for those that want to continue dance throughout the summer but not commit to a structured schedule. We will focus on skills we have limited time to work on during the regular dance year. No classes June 29-July 3. Last day for Punch card classes will be July 31

This camp is an introductory class to pointe, teaching how to wear the shoes, exercises for strengthening and the promotion of proper technique, and basic pointe work.

Jazz & Contemporary are styles of dance that are seen on shows like So You Think You Can Dance. Jazz is a more structured, stage style of dance while Contemporary is a fusion of ballet with jazz. Contemporary dance allows a dancer to expresses personal emotion and passion from within the dancer interpreting both the music and words. This classes teaches fundamental jazz steps and combines the elements of hip hop moves and contemporary music.

Come join us for an exciting week of Hip Hop dance. Hip Hop is a new culture about showing power and attitude in your individual style of dance. Hip Hop dance consist of moves that have been made up and passed along. It's energetic & fun. The camp will end with an in-studio performance for parents and friends.

*Note sign up for more than one and receive a $10 discount per sessionYour little princess can join us for a magical week of dancing. Students arrive dressed for class in their favorite dress up or dance attire where body movement & ballet will be explored. Please wear ballet slippers, or shoe in which they can dance. Each princess will learn basic dance skills, go on a shopping spree, have a tea party, make up and hair done, etiquette, have a fashion show, play dress up and do a craft each day. The week will end with a magical in-studio performance.
